For I Was a Stranger: Biblical Stories of Refuge
Covenant United Methodist Church

May 19 at 7:00 pm
Katy Shedlock presents a series of 4 original monologues from Scripture exploring aspects of the refugee experience, ancient and modern, in a benefit performance for World Relief.
Pastor Katy and her husband Ben have been involved with refugee issues for ten years, most recently as volunteers hosting new refugee families in their home until more permanent housing can be found in the Spokane area. Because of the new limitations on refugees, Katy felt compelled to find a new way to serve and share the refugee experience with the broader community of Spokane. Drawing on her training in theatre, she has written a series of four monologues, dramatizing the refugee experiences of four women from Scripture. Katy hopes that the performance will help people think about modern refugee issues through a biblical lens, as well as encourage people to support local efforts to help refugees from around the world.
You will be given an opportunity at the end of her performance to ask questions, provide feedback and even share your own stories of seeking refuge (whether personal or ancestral)!
All are welcome! Please extend an invitation to neighbors and others who might enjoy this unique and timely presentation .
